INTRODUCTION: this article analyzes mechanisms for developing cognitive competence to improve the effectiveness of academic knowledge acquisition among university students. the study focuses on the impact of cognitive technologies on studentsโ intellectual potential. PURPOSE: the aim of the research is to enhance the quality of learning and foster cognitive and metacognitive activity through a competency-based approach. MATERIALS AND METHODS: methods included theoretical analysis, pedagogical generalization, content analysis, and comparative approach. the integration of cognitive technologies into the educational process was examined. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: findings indicate that a competency-based approach significantly improves the quality of knowledge acquisition, activates studentsโ intellectual potential, and increases learning efficiency. CONCLUSION: mechanisms for developing cognitive competence are a crucial factor in effective academic knowledge acquisition and should be applied as an innovative approach in modern education systems.
