Introduction: independent learning is a key component of modern education, enabling students to develop self-regulation, problem-solving skills, and digital literacy. in academic lyceums, the subject of informatics and information technologies provides a unique platform for fostering these abilities. Purpose: to analyze the pedagogical foundations of independent learning in informatics, focusing on its role in enhancing educational quality and developing student competencies. Materials and Methods: the study applies theoretical-pedagogical analysis, comparative review of reforms, and interpretative synthesis of modern teaching practices. examples of innovative approaches in academic lyceums are examined. Results and Discussion: findings show that independent learning strengthens students’ ability to manage their own educational activities, improves their digital competencies, and fosters critical thinking. reforms introducing project-based learning, elearning platforms, and interactive methods have proven effective in raising the quality of education. Conclusion: independent learning in informatics at academic lyceums is a pedagogical necessity. its integration into the curriculum enhances educational quality, supports competency-based learning, and prepares students for the demands of the digital era.
