Introduction: competitive sports are characterized by intense emotional tension, which can either enhance or hinder performance. in freestyle wrestling, where physical and psychological endurance are equally important, emotional regulation plays a decisive role. Aim: to examine the effects of emotional tension on the sports activity and motivational processes of freestyle wrestlers, and to analyze the role of psychological preparation and stress resistance in achieving success. Materials and Methods: the study applies psychological observation, stress assessment scales, and motivational analysis. data were collected from athletes during pre-competition and competition phases. Results and Discussion: findings show that emotional tension influences concentration, decision-making, and physical performance. wrestlers with higher stress resistance and stronger intrinsic motivation demonstrate greater stability and effectiveness in competition. psychological preparation, including relaxation techniques and motivational training, reduces negative effects of emotional tension. Conclusion: emotional tension is an inevitable factor in competitive wrestling. however, its impact can be managed through psychological preparation, stress resistance, and motivation-building strategies. these components are essential for ensuring optimal performance and long-term success in sports.
