Introduction:

Methods of teaching have been formulated for every particular society which are expected to benefit equally.Existing model of teaching which teachers are appeared only individual to capable of giving informations had been out of date.

However, Nowadays new generation are utilizing digital technology like mobile phone and computers since they were child. They have an opportunity to find more informations and sources they prefer to work independently. We are able to reach this stage through cooperative learning.

Cooperative learning is a method that develops learner’s real communication skills with members in group in course of studying.The data in a large amount of research shows that cooperative learning provides 50 benefits that can be summarized into 4 major categories:social, academic, psychological, assessment.(Ted Panitz,1996){9.97}.Cooperative learning creates social interactions; student have the ability to develop and practice social skills: leadership, decision-making,trust-building, communication.Additionally, the students take psychological benefit.Johnson and Johnson (1989) declare that “cooperative learning experience promote more positive attitudes”{5.24}.In terms of this aspect, students accomplish actively in the learning process with cooperation method, students fulfill their score at the end of the project or work.The research was conducted by Bershon (1992) indicates that students were trained by Cooperative method memorized considerably more information compared to students were trained by other methods.{3.68}

The definition of Cooperative learning

Cooperation is working together to accomplish shared goals.Within cooperative situations, individuals seek outcomes that are beneficial to themselves and beneficial to all other group cooperative learning is an instructional use of small groups so that student work together to maximize their own and each other’s learning.(Johnson,Johnson and Holubec 1998p.{6.32}

Cooperative learning is the collaboration on task by small group of students who resolve difference of opinion,share responsibility,consider one other’s ideas,work toward common goals.(Berk,2008)

Cooperative learning is a teaching arrangement that refers to small,hetergeneous groups of students working together to achieve a common goal(Kagan,1994){7.66}.

Cooperative learning is an activity which helps students to work in groups.Also it enables them to learn and teach group members.Also the success of each members depends on the group’s success.Cooperative learning is a teacher method.(Toopr Bytes)

Cooperative learning is a mode of teaching where educators leave each member of the student group with responsibility of uplifting the academic performance of the others.Collaborative learning is a mode of teaching where the students left to get together and work on a given project as them.

Cooperative learning is a teaching method where students of mixed levels of ability are arranged into groups and rewarded according to the group’s success, rather than the success of an individual member.(Jennifer Levitas,Laura Lohman,Mary Firestone)

Cooperative learning is a method that allows individuals with different abilities to work together to improve their understanding of a subject. (Dillenbourg et al., 1996).{4.55}.

Cooperative Learning is a more specific instructional method in which students work in small groups to accomplish a common learning goal with the guidance of the teacher.

Cooperative learning is socially constructed, accountability-oriented, and motivation-centred learning activities that promote the exchange of information between learners in groups.

Cooperative Learning is accomplished by the division of labor among participants, as an activity where each person is responsible for a portion of the problem solving. The technological support to this kind of activities is called ComputerSupported Cooperative Learning. (Dillenbourg et al., 1996).{7.84}.

Cooperative learning is a topic frequently mentioned in conversations about improving education, regardless of the discipline or level of instruction. An activity involving a small group of learners who work together as a team to solve a problem, complete a task, or accomplish a common goal (Artzt & Newman, 1990){1.44}.

Methods and Distinctions

Research found that learners involved in Cooperative Learning developed skills for interpersonal communications more easily. They were considered of others feelings, receive more accurate understanding of others perspectives.In conflict situations,they were capable of negotiating and solving problems In the following the advantages of Cooperative language learning:

1.Effective learning and exchanging methods

Whole students acquire informations or subject together, efficiency of learning increased.Student worked together a project which demands to speak foreign language,they managed to accomplish proficiency. A research on group work was carrried on by Long and Peter (1985, cited in Ellis .1991) shows that learners made less mistakes grammatically, utilize more sentence in group work than they did with teacher.Students were expected to speak in different ways, however they comprehended another one what kind of topic he or she says about,and they can obtain feedbacks from peers.In the process of learning, students retain further informations and new vocabularies.

2.Adaptations and eliminating anxiety

Every Individual fear to do something first at first place or react something.In my experience of studying at University,there were a few students who were silent, were not able to speak about or comment.In individual tasks,they had performed passively or they were sometimes afraid of giving a speech in front of audience.Then since teachers commanded peer work projects,those students involved in group works and started to participate lessons gradually actively.Although teacher suggested that groupmates had collaborated with another group ,those students adapted to communicate them.

C.Making an effort with motivation

Another benefit of cooperative language learning is a boost of student motivation. Motivation leads to a comprehensive use of language and progress of language degree.Accordimg to research of Clarke (1989. Cited Hedge) collaborative projects stimulated students to train activities which they find more confusing. Person with motivation will maintain output.

This table below adapted from Slavin 2001.Instructions based on cooperative learning. In R. Mayer (Ed.), Handbook of research on learning and instruction. London: Taylor & Francis.{9.23}

The process illustrates how effective collaborative learning is in terms of achieving the goals of group members,how it works and what cause it .When a group of people decide to learn together,this shows rather better results than self-study.First thing to note is that student’s enthusiasm for learning and work on themselves.In order not to be embarrassed in front of peers,they have to study the given subject.In this way, they encourage others to think, “I can do what he did,” and they also share information by helping peers complete exercises which they do not understand or have difficulty teaching skills.Group goals based on learning of group members motivate students to engage in peer modelling, cognitive eloboration or practice with another one.Group.goals can lead to increase concern about caring another one student in group and sense of responsibility for one’s achievement.Finally,because of regular learning,repetetion can cause enhanced learning of students in Group.

Conclusion

Cooperative language learning benefits to individual as learning within group.As mentioned “Today we work collaboratively, Tomorrow we managed to do alone “. Cooperative language learning profits in terms of social, educational,and psychological,as observed examples of some activities in researchs above-mentioned and it creates more ways to explore learning styles,self-development,peer-development rather than ordinary teacher-centered..Cooperative learning posseses various benefits such as motivating themselves and peers,losing worry about whether I do or not.
